2007
Coffee Morning
Years 1 & 2 will be holding a coffee morning on Thursday 25th October
at 9.00am with entertainment following at 9.30am. A raffle will be held
and monies raised will go towards a pantomime visit in December.
The Early Years will be holding their coffee morning at 10.30am with entertainment
at 11.00am on the same day.
Parents, grandparents and friends are invited to join us at these mornings
where we have the opportunity to share and show the class work done by
the children.
Non Uniform Day
This will be held on Thursday 15th November and you are asked to donate
a gift that can be used in the Christmas Fair.
Parent Teacher Association
Following the success of the summer fair which raised £2100, the
committee rounded off a very successful year with a summer disco. The
next events that have been organised include a Bingo Evening, non-uniform
day, Christmas Fair and a Christmas disco. All parents at school are welcome
to attend the PTA meetings, we always need new members; look out for the
posters and flyers advertising the meetings, bring your ideas along and
help raise much needed funds for pupil activities and resources. Alternatively
see a member of the PTA or call into the office.
Marie Curie Daffodils
We are all planting a daffodil bulb again this year. They provided a lovely
display around school last year and the children were proud of their achievements.
Each class will participate in a sponsored daffodil activity at some point
in the school year with money raised going to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The children have been given some ideas and will soon come up with their
preferred activity. It should be fun!!
Curriculum Topics
Throughout the school year the children explore different topic areas.
This term they have been finding out about -
Early Years - Cooking. The children have been involved in preparing, cooking
and tasting different foods.
Year 1 - Ourselves. The children have been discovering what makes them
tick and also drawing/painting themselves as self-portraits.
Year 2 - Laura Ashley. As part of the Welsh history curriculum the children
have learned about Laura Ashley and the creation of her clothing empire.
Wales in Bloom
It was with great excitement
that we accepted the award for the Wales in Bloom 2007 Schools competition
at Caerphilly Castle being judged as having the best school garden in
the principality. Many thanks to Mr Jarvis, the Gardening Club and all
volunteers who helped us achieve this distinction. Well done!
